Getting My Son to Cook

Gary, my young son request was pretty simple. If I want him to learn how to cook, I must buy him a magic oven that he can use. With his hands crossed, determine stance and a cute pout, I found the situation ridiculously funny. But I did promise him to buy the best cookware from the internet.

This particular discussion came about when I told him that not only girls should know about cooking. Citing examples of some of the best chef in the world like Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsey or Bobby Flay, I explained that many men are very good cook indeed. He was unconvinced. I added these chefs are famous and makes good money.

And some of them actually have their own brand of cookware that is sold all over the world. Gary then gave me a very confused look. Asking innocently where they get the time to cook when they had to make the pots and pans. Naturally, I laughed.

Embarrassing Moments at the Shopping Mall

I have an active kid. No, make that an extremely active kid. He is also very curious and would touch and experiment with things that catch his attention. He never fails to flat line my heart beat every now and then. Take for example when we were at the shopping mall yesterday and he took a fancy at their best microwave that was on display and decided to have a closer look. And that was quite a mistake.

He immediately located the button to open up the microwave door and was happily opening and closing it before I notice what he was up to. I was about to ask him to stop playing with it when there was suddenly a loud announcement over the PA system.

It gave my son a shock and he accidentally pushed the microwave off the display table and it came crashing onto the floor! Imagine how horrified we were. The staff came over and placed the microwave back onto the table and set about to see if the microwave was broken. My son was crying beside me and I was trying to pacify him and at the same time praying that the microwave was not broken. Thank goodness it wasn't.
